In San Juan, Puerto Rico, Peter Boghossian launched this conversation with the claim, “Boys and girls should be raised differently.” Six participants explored children’s toys, sex chromosomes, gender identity, and medical interventions (puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgery).
Two participants claimed gender choices are never a mistake, even among young children. Instead, gender identification is a “fluid journey” that can lead in various directions. One participant displayed self-censorship, saying it was hard to answer some questions and not “feel the heat” for his answers.
Participants also discussed the possibility of identifying as a different age or race. For these characteristics, mathematical and biological realities were raised. However, one participant expressed the possibility that society could eventually progress to the point of recognizing racial self-identification.
Yes, boys and girls should be raised differently! Absolutely.
Let's start with teaching boys they are absolutely, 100 percent responsible for themselves, their desires, and how they react/respond to frustration. Let's teach them no matter what another person is wearing or not wearing, saying or doing around them, they may not infer any invitation, and may not under any circumstances presume to act on their carnal desires without an express, unequivocal, "Yes."
Let's teach girls it is a FAILING on the part of boys and men who behave badly, violently, criminally towards women and girls. And let's bloody ENFORCE behavioural standards for boys and men rather than forcing women and girls to cover up, speak softly, be nice, whatever we have to do to accommodate, assuage, cajole, protect ourselves from boys and men who will not - and who society does not expect - to be in control of themselves at all times.
Yes. Different. Necessarily.
I'm just glad those people are rejecting this sort of nonsense. Obviously, Queer Theory and the pronoun cult need to go.
