“How are you so stunning and brave?” is the only question they want to be asked.

To be fair: it’s the only question I want to be asked.

Dealing with dishonest actors in identity based ideologies is a constant battle. They know that almost all who disagree with them are rule abiders and therefore will not seriously detour their nihilistic activism. They count on their detractors just complying with whatever rules are placed before them.

There is a word for this - Proceeduralism!! Put a procedure in place and Conservative types will almost always obey and follow it.

And that is how they control spaces online, on the street, in Human Resources departments and in governing bodies.

How to get around it? Sadly a legal confrontation is needed. But there again they control the Law Schools, the Bar Associations and the procedures for judicial appointments.

Until and unless a large Conservative cohort is relentless and long-lasting the ideologues will win because they are zealots and well financed as well by the usual suspects at nefariously funded NGOs. My advice is invest in financial freedom that allows for more choices and freedoms in your lives. Proper, disciplined, long-term investing is not an escape but a wise choice. Get thee to a library and study from the greats. Sorry to be such a downer but we call all see the results for ourselves. The United Kingdom no longer exists, it is gone and is in reality now the Islamic Kingdom. Canada is going fast. Soon it will be formally called Turtle Island as we hand over all property and land to unelected, hereditary First Nations. Australia is fading fast too. And on it goes. Only America, Poland and a very few other places have a chance to survive as descendants of the West. Invest!!!!

One of the things that separates the U.S. from the other soon-to-be Islamic Republics is the existence of conservative counter-systems. I don’t even mean conservative in the sense of “Republican,” but in the sense of “likes enlightenment values.”

Yes the U.S. has crazy people who are hijacking our systems and exploiting proceduralism. But it also has people who have built parallel systems: UATX, The Free Press, X; these parallel systems then get to compete with the existing ones in a (mostly) free market. And they stand apart from their competitors in the clear sense that they don’t suck.

As long as we can maintain fair competition I think there’s still a shot at beating this.

However, you don't have to follow the procedures they set out. Freedom of speech allows us to change the subject. To set the agenda, as it were. Many of us are now using this technique to counter the Red/Green Alliance. See my essay here: https://allenz1.substack.com/p/freedom-of-speech-is-our-last-best

Yes, one definitely needs "eff you" money ASAP.

"How to get around it? Sadly a legal confrontation is needed."

What exactly would that "legal confrontation" consist of? Anti-discrimination legislation?

That already exists and it must be abolished--all of it that's imposed on the private sector-- because it violates every person's legitimate individual rights to one's personal liberty; one's private property, which, of course, includes one's business property; one right to freedom of association; one's right to freedom of non-association, including PEACEFUL discrimination for whatever reason; and freedom of contract.

There are many people of every sexual orientation, every identity, every skin color, every ethnicity, etc. who propose and defend laws that run roughshod over their legitimate individual rights.

We need their abolition, not more of the same.

So tell us what "legal confrontation" you have in mind.

Don't just toss out a floating abstraction. Define it, objectively.

There is a fundamental clash.

Some folks think their feelings are reality.

Some folks feel uncomfortable with being pressured into pretending reality is something that it isn’t.

It’s then difficult to rationally argue a point of view with someone who didn’t arrive at their point of view rationally. You might as well say they are a bad person and causing emotional violence. They would at least understand that (and then of course immediately declare you’re a fascist).

Very true. Something I realized when I was active in the New Atheist space is that ideas (religious or not) that are not reasoned into, will not be reasoned out of.

They don’t believe these things because they think they’re true, they believe them because they think it makes them good people.

Language/idea/narrative laundering is the currency of these types of people. They are extremely dangerous folks, full stop. We dont curtail them at our own peril....

I gather you are getting a feel for the trouble Canada is in. You actually can Be. Shut. Down. and have to pay money through a kangaroo court made up of lay political hacks known as Human Rights Tribunal if someone takes offence at what you said. And I'm not taking about slander or even about hate speech.

Peter Boghossian's avatar

I absolutely am. It’s not even clear to me how long Canada will remain a Western nation. They are enthusiastically abandoning enlightenment values, importing large groups of people who they cannot assimilate, and punishing those who speak out against it.

"Had a list of people"

Who will be silenced. I am one of many. We trans widows, women who divorced suddenly crossdressing husbands, saw it all: porn addiction, drugs addictions, father-son estrangements, therapists ignoring early childhood sexual abuse/physical abuse experiences. Yet, when I asked Peter in a live event a couple years ago, he dismissed me, saying, "we have to think about the kids." Indeed. I represent the mothers of the kids, Peter. You know where to find me.

This "tour" is false marketing and BS at the highest order and thus just another religion, cult, etc. It seems apparent that any club such as this would want to keep all naysayers out as it conflicts with their ideology - simple as that. Sounds like confirmation bias to me - but you know the score.

They said people could come if they came "in good faith." Theirs is a faith-based view. It doesn't respond to reason.

But I don't think many people subscribe to their faith, and the numbers seem to be decreasing.

Love you man. Fae is a scammer. Canada is now filled with Fae-types, it is really distressing living here.

Trans activists really have to work harder to convince us that they aren’t a part of a political cult. Almost everything they say and do is cultish.

Ask them if they are dualists (a religious position).

Col Edward H R Green's avatar

Metaphysical Dualism is the claim that reality comprises two dimensions: a natural/material dimension, and a supernatural/immaterial dimension, with the former being an inherently defective emanation of the latter BECAUSE it is natural/material, therefore inherently base, alien, "sinful", unreal. I think that this notion began in the West with the Neoplatonic philosopher, Plotinus.

Metaphysical Dualism is the foundation of most religions.

From this metaphysical starting point, a "trans" person is basically claiming that he or she is a "soul" that was "born in the wrong body", and that he or she has "known" it since birth, a claim based on Plato's doctrine of innate ideas, which Aristotle refuted.

So there is this "soul" that has been born in the "wrong", i.e. inherently base, "sinful", unreal body that must be physically altered in order to make it accord with one's "soul" that comes from a dimension of "real, true" reality.

One's "transition"--an active renunciation of one's biological, i.e. physical/material "unreal", thus "base, impure" self--achieves unity with one's "pure, real, true" self.

This "transition" is an achievement of reaching "real" reality; therefore, as "trans" folk loudly proclaim, "Transwomen are [real] women! Transmen are [real] men!"

The metaphysical impossibility of a supernatural/immaterial existence makes their proclamation nothing more than a subjective assertion, a performance, which they demand that everyone acknowledge as true BECAUSE they declare it, and BECAUSE they "feel" it.

This exemplifies the Primacy of Consciousness Metaphysics that Ayn Rand explained. It is the foundation of Subjectivism, Solipsism, and Post-Modern philosophy's metaphysics and epistemology.

Primacy of Consciousness holds that consciousness (one's faculty of awareness) is metaphysically active, i.e., one's acts of consciousness (thoughts, feelings, assertions) create reality and are one's tools of cognition, one's means of knowing (epistemology). It rejects Primacy of Existence Metaphysics, which holds that existence comes first, and consciousness is metaphysically passive. It passively apprehends existents via the senses, and one actively, volitionally conceptualizes (mentally integrates) them, grounding one's concepts in reality while formulating reality-informed logically-integrated higher-level concepts (abstractions).

Metaphysical Dualism and Primacy of Consciousness comprise the metaphysics and epistemology of their paradigm, their personal identity, their defense mechanism that perceives all pointed questions and challenges as a physical threat to their existence, thus their accusations of "transphobia" and "trans-genocide" and demands for censorship ("Shut. Them. Down.").

Their delusions are expressive of unresolved trauma, or hormonal imbalances that occurred in their brains during their fetal development. Their performances as "trans" persons are their attempts at escaping those realities rather than facing and resolving them by facing their facts, i.e. their origins, an exploration that would require from them a level of courage and objectivity that they choose to evade.
