What is Decolonization? Part 2.  Decolonization was when colonization worked. Colonization had, as part of its program, decolonization. Colonization was a way to help other peoples who had not established the basics of government to create a government and eventually be self-governing and independent. So, the original meaning of "decolonization" was simply the fulfillment of the colonial aims, which was to create independent, self-governing peoples out of places that didn't have those foundations in the past.
