Woke in Plain English: "Cis"

Cis. When you hear the woke say “cis” or “cisgender,” what they mean is an individual whose gender identity matches their sex assigned at birth. In other words, if someone has a vagina, they’re assigned “female at birth.” If someone has a penis, they’re assigned “male at birth.” A cisgender woman, for example, is someone who was born with a vagina (assigned female at birth) and who identifies as a woman. The word “cisgender” is the opposite of the word “transgender.” A transgender individual’s gender identity does not match their sex assigned at birth. For example, a transgender woman is someone born with a penis who identifies as a woman. Despite more than 98% of US adults identifying with their assigned gender, for the woke, the words “man” and “woman” must be divorced from their traditional meanings. Whether one considers oneself a man or a woman is a matter of self-identification. If one says they’re a woman, they are a woman (regardless of what genitalia they had at birth.)
