Recently Hillary Clinton said: “Because at some point maybe there needs to be a formal deprogramming of the cult members.” She was referring to people that in 2016 she described: “you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right? The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic—you name it.” It seems she now sees this as whole rather than a half. Because of your outspoken positions the woke mob would lump into that basket, do you see yourself being included formal deprogramming when they get to that?
Hi Peter, thanks for posting your conversations they're really valuable, I especially enjoyed the Nina Power episode this week. I'm something of a Hitchens-ite ideologically but recently wrestling with moral epistemology, my question is do you think it's possible to produce a kind of "Atheist Bible", a place to derive discovered (rather than revealed) wisdom from, like the sayings of Confucius that can have real cultural cache to ground ourselves with? Like Peterson I think Disney movies were something of a stop-gap in the process of modernising ancient wisdom into digestible forms and important as cultural landmarks for the majority of people - should we just force everyone to watch the Next Generation?
