Recently Hillary Clinton said: “Because at some point maybe there needs to be a formal deprogramming of the cult members.” She was referring to people that in 2016 she described: “you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right? The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic—you name it.” It seems she now sees this as whole rather than a half. Because of your outspoken positions the woke mob would lump into that basket, do you see yourself being included formal deprogramming when they get to that?
Hi Peter, thanks for posting your conversations they're really valuable, I especially enjoyed the Nina Power episode this week. I'm something of a Hitchens-ite ideologically but recently wrestling with moral epistemology, my question is do you think it's possible to produce a kind of "Atheist Bible", a place to derive discovered (rather than revealed) wisdom from, like the sayings of Confucius that can have real cultural cache to ground ourselves with? Like Peterson I think Disney movies were something of a stop-gap in the process of modernising ancient wisdom into digestible forms and important as cultural landmarks for the majority of people - should we just force everyone to watch the Next Generation?
I recently tried to do an SE session in a public place without success. Most people did not want to be on camera or didn't want to talk to us at all. Those that did talk asked a lot of questions about the "game", but none wanted to actually play.
How do you generally approach people for SE? How do you explain the rules quickly? How do you get people to participate? Maybe you can give some hints on how to get started. If you have video about how you approach people for playing, I'd love to see that.
What is the most unique Chinese dish you have ever tried or are willing to try? Please don't eat exotic animals, but other than those, what have you thought strange initially but found enjoyable after tasting?
After seeing the protests and statements made on college campuses after the terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel, I have been wondering how the students arrived at what it is they think they believe. What is the process. To go from giddy high school seniors fresh off the prom contemplating excitedly their move into their college dorm (and likely having very little knowledge of current world events) to, in a few short years, the vociferous chanters of progressive ideology. How did they get radicalized or indoctrinated? Or am I wrong and they have simply been properly educated about the truth? Somehow I doubt that. They are certainly not all Middle East scholars. How is it that, in their first year or two as an adult, they think they have it all figured out?
Thank you as always, Peter and Gina, for hosting the AMA series and thank you for all the NPA content, I particularly liked the recent Rajiv Malhotra conversation! I have a few questions regarding the Biden laptop, false consensus, and intuition if there is time.
Do you now consider your initial beliefs regarding the Biden laptop story to be false or provisionally false? How did a false consensus contribute, if at all, to your initial belief in the mainstream media account of the Biden laptop story? How did your intuition contribute to your coming to realization that your beliefs regarding the Biden laptop story should change?
