“How to think like scientists” 😆 I was asked to join the Skeptic cult. What’s great about it, is you could be as thick as two short planks and pretend you know what you are taking about by saying not a lot, just a bunch of parroted indoctrinated nonsense pushed by their vested interest sponsors. I don’t disagree with everything touted, it’s just I can’t even take them seriously anymore.

Shermer is a die-hard scientific reductionist and he makes his living by a espousing those beliefs. is particularly Adept at using one form of straw man fallacy or another. Case in point he talks about the fallibility of witnesses' perception and Max the fact that people tend to Measure the credibility of the witness by their profession such as policeman military officer Etc. However he avoids and this is typical of him, the fact that some of the evidence is entirely electronic such as the advanced radar systems that observe the Tic Tac. now perhaps he will argue that there's an algorithm wrong and it perceives that which isn't there you can make that argument but then he doesn't get to get his famous sarcastic asides. Now I don't believe that there are aliens and spaceships zipping around but I don't consider it totally impossible. the biggest problem people have with it is that interstellar travel just does not seem possible given our current knowledge of physics and time and space. Certainly, if those Tic Tacs were manned by something biological and performed those incredible maneuvers you'd have to wonder what kind of creature inside of it would survive tha,t because most would be turned into protoplasmic ozes.

For all the reading that Michael Schumer has done he appears to never read Thomas Kuhn. Scientific paradigms change we went from Newtonian physics which was solidly based on mathematical models to I and then Relativity in physics followed by quantum physics. in each case, the proponents of the system go out of vogue and as Max Planck said "science progresses one funeral at a time."

Sociobiologists or evolutionary psychologists etc have the notion that the human brain has stopped its evolution.. You would think they would recognize that our ability to perceive the world and understand it is predicated to a great extent on the evolution of our brain. why do we think that our brain has stopped evolving and that it won't in a hundred or a thousand years perceive the world very differently? Well, you're not going to accept that reality if you make your living publishing a glossy Skeptics magazine. I don't expect the Pope to start quoting from Ian Paisley or Richard Dawkins either.

Legendary guest and deep interview, thank you for sharing! Is gender ideology a social contagion? I think there might be an argument that what we are currently experiencing did not arise organically. I think sexual preference is a real thing and has been around a long time. The prominence of the use of the word gender is unusual in my opinion.

Those who wish to downplay or cover up intrusions by foreign aircraft, drones, satellites or balloons are likely to encourage belief in aliens so they can push "UFO" cover stories.

No, no, I was just kidding. I don't think we are being visited by aliens. There is no real evidence. And the idea that any one government could keep it all a secret is a joke. UFOs, bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster etc. is all bunk.

Who still takes Shermer seriously? Peter - let go of your old conceptions of the world. The reason nobody takes Shermer up on his stupid challenge is cuz he's irrelevant in the actual conversation going on about UFOs. I dare you to have Dr. David Greer on to 'debate' Shermer, Try to have Shermer debunk him, lmfao.

It really helps to separate two things.

1) UFOs - tons of compelling evidence.

2) Aliens, and other attempts to explain UFOs - mostly wild speculation.

The truth is simple. These things are real. We have no idea what they are.

In order for UFO skeptics to be right, every UFO sighting ever made has to be invalid. Every single one.

In order for UFO believers to be right, only one UFO sighting has to be valid. Just one.

The skeptics are headed for a rude awakening.

Please see the recent Congressional hearing on UFOs, easily found on YouTube. Actually watch the whole thing.
