I agree with your position on global population, and am surprised I don't hear more people celebrate the decline, for just the same resource reason you stated. There definitely is a limit on population, simply because resources are finite. Are we at that limit? I would say yes, and I think most biologists would agree that we are at the limit, or beyond it.
