Good comments here. It seems to be a universal truth that giving up your nukes makes you a target—and getting them is a safety guarantee.

Also, nukes do not need to be launched. They can be smuggled into a country and then detonated at a time of choosing.

Taiwan as a 51st state??? NO! Absolutely not! Not only because that would bring the US closer to a war with China--which I predict the CCP will initiate in 2049, the 100th anniversary of the CCP-- but also because that would inevitably mean that it would be like Puerto Rico and all other US territories in that its citizens and economy would receive incessant billions of $ each year in the form of welfare schemes, loans, grants, and bailouts all funded via tax-thievery (legalized theft, but theft nonetheless) perpetrated by US federal and state governments against US citizens and their earnings and other personal wealth. NO tax-theft funded "aid" and weaponry to Taiwan, or any other country! Leave the Taiwanese to fend for themselves, and defend themselves against China, which they are doing quite well. It is NOT our problem! It is not our conflict!

It’s the economy stupid

If we could all work towards a worldwide cooperative economy we would never face war again!!!

Am I my brother’s keeper?

His punishment was to become a homeless stateless lone wanderer

For what it's worth - I just had dinner last night with a long term America living in Taiwan for 30 years who is a successful business person there and land owner. He married a Taiwanese woman and they raised children there who are now grown. He said no one there is worried about China over stepping or using military action because he explained they have a philosophy called "don't poke the bully." He said the CCP doesn't want to take Taiwan. They like the business set up now.

They do censor history so the rebellion is not mentioned anymore or taught.

In his view in Hong Kong the youth there "poked" the CCP and went too far throwing small bombs - and they got taken down by the CCP - but the Taiwanese don't poke at the CCP.

I wasn't that clear why he wasn't worried about a takeover but he brushed it off as something only foreigners think.

Pardon my ignorance,… but what is stopping Taiwan from getting nuclear capability?

Had Ukraine not given up their nukes in the 90s, they would not be fighting the Russians today, yes?

The answer was given in the interview. The US intervened when it was discovered that Tawain where developing nuclear weapons. I have heard this before also in discussion about South Korea. Also the US and Russia? coaxed Ukraine into giving up their nuclear weapons on the basis of a security agreement. Both countries have reneged wholly (Russia) or partially (US) on the agreement.

Better to work towards worldwide nuclear disarmament that to continue use the nuclear arms race

Only brotherly love will bring worldwide peace

I know it’s crazy but we Jews have longed and prayed for that and continue to believe that those times will come

We cal that the messianic time

May it come speedily and within our time
